What the package leaves out

The most important line in a proposal is the thing it does not include.

When reviewing vendor contracts, the biggest financial risks hide not in what is written, but in what is left unstated. Does the venue rental include setup and teardown hours, or do you have to pay $500 per hour for load-in before 2:00 PM?

Ask every prospective vendor for their list of exclusions. Does the DJ provide wireless microphones for the ceremony, or only reception sound? Does the florist stay to flip the ceremony arch to the dinner table, or do they drop buckets and depart? Knowing where one vendor’s responsibility ends and another begins prevents day-of logistical chaos.

Clarifying boundaries early protects your peace of mind and preserves vendor goodwill.

Your next step

Ask every shortlisted vendor: “What common expenses or duties are not covered in this package?”
